Over 2 Inches Rain Lash Surat as Gujarat Witnesses Rainy Tuesday Morning

Surat: The long-awaited monsoon rains have now arrived in Gujarat and have lashed Surat the most since last night. Rainy conditions were seen in many parts of the state since early this morning. Rain was recorded in 36 talukas between 6 am and 12 noon. Kamrej in Surat received the highest rainfall of 2.36 inches, followed by Surat city, which received 2.32 inches.

After the delayed and weak onset of the monsoon, rainfall started in Surat late last night, drenching areas including Katargam, Udhna-Navsari Road, Parvat Patiya, Amroli and Varachha, leaving them waterlogged. Traffic jams occurred in many areas as vehicles broke down on several roads, and people faced great hardship during the morning peak hours.

Bhimnagar Garnala, connecting Udhna and Dindoli, was completely waterlogged, and the main road from Udhna to Sachin remained blocked by traffic for hours. There was also an incident of a tree falling in Varachha’s Ishwar Krupa Society, although there were no casualties.

Meanwhile, students faced considerable difficulty as classrooms and the main roads in the Bhagwan Mahavir University campus in Vesu were flooded. Students had to wade through knee-deep water outside Saraswati Vidyalaya in the Parvat Gam area to reach school.

Rain in Other South Gujarat Districts Too

Other parts of South Gujarat also witnessed the first widespread rainfall of the season, as Navsari and Dharampur in Valsad also received over 1.5 inches of rain. In Navsari city, residents expressed anger as many residential societies were flooded. Meanwhile, farmers were delighted as areas including Umargam, Nanapondha, Pardi and Kaprada received good rainfall.
