VMC Unveils Plan for Crocodile-Shaped Pedestrian Bridge at Sayaji Baug
June 30, 2026
Vadodara: Vadodara is set to get a new tourist attraction celebrating the city’s unique connection with the Vishwamitri River and its famous crocodile population. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has proposed a crocodile-shaped pedestrian bridge at Sayaji Baug (also known as Kamati Baug) to replace the existing ageing bridge across the river.
The highlight of the 57-metre-long structure will be its distinctive design. As visitors cross the bridge, they will feel as though they are walking through the open mouth of a giant crocodile, creating a unique and memorable experience.

Length and Width: This bridge will be 57 metres long and 7.80 metres wide.
Walkway and Cycle Track: A 3-metre dedicated cycle track and a walkway will be built in the middle of the bridge for tourists.
LED Lighting: Special advanced LED lighting will be arranged so that tourists can enjoy the captivating views of the bridge at night.
The estimated cost of this ambitious project to be built by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation has been fixed at ₹11.25 crore. DeshGujarat
