Gujarat Govt Hikes Financial Aid for UPSC Aspirants Studying at SPIPA
July 01, 2026
Gandhinagar: To encourage students preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, the state government has significantly increased the rates of incentive assistance for candidates studying at SPIPA (Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration) and its approved training centres. The new revised rates have come into effect from July 1.
As per the new provision, candidates preparing for the preliminary examination will now be given assistance of up to Rs. 4,000 per month. In addition, candidates who succeed at each stage of the UPSC examination, preliminary, main and interview, will also be given different financial incentives.
Under the new scheme, boys who pass the preliminary examination will get assistance of Rs. 35,000 and girls Rs. 50,000, while boys who pass the main examination will get assistance of Rs. 45,000 and girls Rs. 55,000. Boys who secure final selection in the UPSC will get assistance of Rs. 75,000, while girls will be given Rs. 1 lakh.
In this way, by combining the assistance for all stages, boys will be eligible for a total of Rs. 1.55 lakh, while girls will be eligible for incentive assistance of up to Rs. 2.05 lakh. The state government believes that this decision will provide great support to economically weaker but talented students in their preparation for prestigious competitive examinations like the UPSC, and that more candidates from Gujarat will be able to secure a place in the country’s highest civil services.
Meanwhile, SPIPA Deputy Director General Chandresh Kotak, while clarifying the scheme, said that the incentive assistance for each stage of the preliminary, main and interview examinations will be given to a candidate only once. If a candidate does not succeed in the final selection after reaching the interview stage and reaches the interview stage again in the next attempt, they will not receive the preliminary and main assistance again. However, they will be eligible to receive the incentive assistance for the interview stage again. DeshGujarat
