The press release stated that the new air-conditioned electric bus service launched by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation has proven to be a boon for citizens.
For people who travel every day, this service has become an efficient means of making their daily lives easier, safer, and stress-free. This initiative by the Municipal Corporation is a step towards building a green, clean, and smart Gandhinagar.
When the service was initially launched, it received a good response. On the first day, June 29, 2026, a total of 6,120 passengers were registered. As citizens experienced the convenience and comfort of the bus service, ridership continued to increase. On July 11, 2026, a record 13,615 passengers traveled on the buses in a single day.
Trivedi Niyati, a regular commuter from Dhamasana to Sargasan, shared her experience of the bus service and said, “This bus launched by GMC is very convenient for passengers. Especially since the fare has been kept at a very concessional rate, there is no financial burden on common citizens and students. Since the bus is fully air-conditioned, the journey remains quite comfortable even in the summer heat. The bus is equipped with CCTV cameras, due to which girls and women traveling on it feel completely safe.”
Free from heat and pollution, a cool and comfortable journey
Daily travel was a big challenge in the scorching heat. However, with the fully air-conditioned e-bus service, passengers are now enjoying a comfortable and cool journey. Citizens can reach their destinations peacefully, away from dust, smoke, and noise.
CCTV-equipped buses ensure women’s safety
For women, safety is the biggest concern during travel. These e-buses are equipped with modern CCTV cameras, enabling working women and girls traveling to schools and colleges to commute in a safe environment without fear. Families are also now free from the worry of sending their daughters alone.
Big relief from the financial burden
Daily travel in private vehicles or autorickshaws used to be very expensive for the middle class and students. In contrast, the fare for these e-buses has been kept at a very concessional rate. This financial relief has reduced the burden on the pockets of common citizens and enabled them to save money.
Excellent connectivity network and time-saving
These buses provide direct connectivity from key locations such as Sargasan Circle, Pathikashram Terminal, and the Secretariat to surrounding rural, educational, and industrial areas, including Kalol, Kadi, Dahegam, Chiloda, and Chandkheda. In addition, students benefit from direct connectivity to major educational institutions such as IIT Gandhinagar and PDEU, saving valuable time and avoiding the hassle of changing vehicles frequently.
