Ambika River Flows Above Previous Highest Flood Level in Surat; CWC Issues Red Bulletin

Ahmedabad: Amid heavy rains in South Gujarat, the Central Water Commission (CWC) has issued a red bulletin on Friday morning warning of extremely severe flood situation.

According to the CWC’s Extreme Flood Situation (Red Bulletin) issued at 9:28 am, the Ambika river is still flowing in extremely severe flood condition at Gadat in Surat district.

At 8 am today, the water level of the Ambika river was recorded at 14.05 meters. Although the water level is decreasing by 150 mm per hour, the water level of the river is still 2.05 meters above the danger level of 12.00 meters.

According to the CWC, the current water level of the Ambika river is 0.07 meters higher than the previous highest flood level (HFL) of 13.985 meters recorded on June 16, 1994, which indicates the seriousness of the situation.
