Indian Army Joins Gujarat Flood Relief Efforts; Rescues 43 Stranded People

Surat: Responding swiftly to the evolving flood situation in Gujarat, the Indian Army, under the aegis of Southern Command, has mobilized Relief and Rescue Columns, including Engineer and Medical teams, to assist the civil administration in ongoing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, an official statement said.

Army teams have been deployed in the affected areas of Navsari, Valsad, Silvassa and Ahmedabad, while additional relief columns have been kept in readiness at Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad for immediate deployment, depending on the evolving situation. The relief effort is being undertaken in close coordination with the NDRF, SDRF, civil administration and other responding agencies.

Rescue operations commenced late on the night of July 23, 2026, in the flood-affected areas of Navsari. Army teams have so far safely evacuated 43 stranded civilians from inundated locations.
