Ahmedabad Woman Duped of ₹11 Lakh in Fake Science City Road Flat Deal
July 26, 2026
Ahmedabad: A 57-year-old woman from Sola has alleged that she was duped of ₹11 lakh after being lured into buying a flat in a proposed housing project on Science City Road.
According to a complaint lodged with the Sola police on Saturday, the woman was first approached by a female acquaintance, who informed her about affordable flats being offered near a party plot on Science City Road.
The next day, the acquaintance visited her home with a man from Bopal, who introduced himself as a builder. He allegedly showed her a brochure of the proposed housing project and later took her to the Science City Road site, where she was shown a flat in an under-construction building.
Believing the offer, the woman agreed to buy the flat for ₹25 lakh and initially paid ₹1 lakh in cash. She later broke a fixed deposit and made additional cash payments, taking the total amount paid to ₹11 lakh. According to the complaint, the payments were made at her home in March 2024 in the presence of family members and others.
She was allegedly assured that possession of the flat would be handed over within six months. However, when the promised deadline passed, she neither received possession nor received any satisfactory response.
The woman later learnt that several others had allegedly been promised flats under similar schemes after paying substantial amounts, but none had received possession. Suspecting fraud, she approached the Sola police and filed a complaint against the Bopal resident. DeshGujarat
