Ahmedabad Traffic Police Cancel 1,855 AI-Generated E-Challans Issued on Rath Yatra Day

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Traffic Police have cancelled 1,855 AI-generated e-challans worth nearly ₹15 lakh that were issued on Rath Yatra day (July 16) after it was found that many motorists were fined despite following temporary traffic arrangements put in place for the annual procession.

According to a senior traffic police official, several roads along the 16-km Rath Yatra route were closed for security, while alternate routes were opened to manage traffic. During the procession, some roads that are usually one-way were temporarily made two-way, and parking restrictions were eased at certain locations. At the same time, the entire Rath Yatra route was declared a no-parking zone.

Despite these temporary changes, the city’s AI-based CCTV surveillance system continued issuing e-challans based on the regular traffic rules. As a result, many motorists who followed the police’s temporary traffic diversions and parking instructions were wrongly penalised. DeshGujarat
