Woman Arriving from Dubai Caught Smuggling ₹35.84 Lakh Gold at Ahmedabad Airport

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Customs has seized 244.16 grams of 24-carat gold worth ₹35.84 lakh from a woman passenger who allegedly concealed gold paste inside her body after arriving from Dubai, marking the latest gold smuggling case detected at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
According to Customs officials, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) intercepted the passenger after she arrived on Flight FZ-437 from Dubai on Monday, acting on specific intelligence shared by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
During a detailed search, officers allegedly recovered around 270 grams of gold paste concealed inside the woman’s body. The paste was later processed and converted into a 24-carat gold TT bar weighing 244.16 grams, with an estimated market value of ₹35,84,269.
The gold has been seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962, and further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the smuggling attempt and whether the passenger was acting alone or on behalf of a larger smuggling network.
The seizure is the latest in a series of gold smuggling cases uncovered at Ahmedabad Airport, particularly involving passengers arriving from Gulf countries. DeshGujarat
