Ahmedabad civic body to launch Online Marriage Registration Portal from August 1
July 30, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will implement a new online marriage registration system from August 1, 2026, making the process easier, more transparent and paperless. To facilitate the transition, marriage registration services will remain suspended throughout the day on July 31, 2026.
At present, marriage registration under the Gujarat Marriage Act, 2006 is carried out through AMC’s 48 electoral ward offices. Applicants are required to collect the application form from the ward office under whose jurisdiction the marriage venue falls, fill it out manually, and submit it in person along with the necessary documents. After verification, the marriage details are uploaded to AMC’s Microtech software, and a copy of the marriage registration certificate is issued. Additional copies can be obtained from City Civic Centres by paying the prescribed fee.
From August 1, AMC will launch a dedicated online portal for marriage registration. The portal aims to provide citizens with an easy, secure, transparent and paperless service. Applicants will be able to submit their applications online from home, upload the required documents, track the status of their application, and book a convenient date and time slot for physical verification.
The new marriage registration portal will be available on AMC’s website, https://ahmedabadcity.gov.in. The website will also provide detailed instructions for completing the online application and uploading the necessary documents.
Once the submitted documents are verified by the concerned office and found to be in order, applicants will be able to book a convenient appointment for physical verification, excluding public holidays. On the scheduled date, both the bride and groom will have to appear in person at the concerned marriage registration ward office, sign the marriage register, and pay the prescribed online registration fee.
Upon completion of the process, applicants will be able to download their digitally signed marriage certificate, featuring photographs of both the bride and groom, through their login on the portal.
AMC has announced that the existing marriage registration system will be discontinued from July 31, 2026, while the new online system will come into effect from August 1, 2026. As part of the transition to the new portal, marriage registration services will remain closed for one day on July 31. DeshGujarat
