Flash Flood Risk for Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Other Areas of Gujarat Until Saturday: IMD Bulletin

Vadodara: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a flash flood warning for several parts of Gujarat, including major cities such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Valsad and Navsari, valid until Saturday, August 1.
According to a bulletin issued by the IMD’s Hydromet Division’s Flash Flood Guidance Cell, a low to moderate flash flood risk is likely over a few watersheds and neighbouring areas during the next 24 hours (up to 5:30 pm on August 1) in the districts of Ahmedabad, Anand, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Bharuch, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Dang, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Mehsana, Mahisagar, Narmada, Navsari, Panchmahal, Patan, Sabarkantha, Surat, Tapi, Vadodara and Valsad.
In the Saurashtra-Kutch region, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Morbi and Kutch are also likely to face a low to moderate flash flood risk during the same period.
The IMD bulletin further stated that a low to moderate flash flood threat was observed over a few watersheds and neighbouring areas in Bharuch, Surat and Bhavnagar districts during the six hours ending at 5:30 pm on Friday.
The bulletin also warned of a persistent flash flood threat until 11:30 pm on Friday in Bharuch, Surat and Bhavnagar districts. The IMD said surface runoff and inundation may occur in fully saturated soils and low-lying areas due to the expected rainfall over the next few hours. DeshGujarat
