MS University Vadodara to Get New 11-Storey Boys Hostel
August 07, 2026
Vadodara: The Maharaja Sayajirao (MS) University of Baroda has begun the process of constructing a new 11-storey modern boys’ hostel on its campus with financial support from the Gujarat government. The proposed hostel will accommodate around 700 additional students and is expected to be completed within two years.
The state government has released the first instalment of a ₹10 crore grant for the project, while the university has initiated the tender process for construction. The hostel will come up behind the university’s head office.
At present, nearly 3,000 students from different parts of Gujarat and across the country stay in the university’s 12 boys’ hostels. However, the existing capacity falls short of demand, leaving many students without hostel accommodation every year. University officials said the new hostel is aimed at addressing this long-standing shortage and providing modern residential facilities on campus.
The proposed hostel will have around 150 rooms, each designed to accommodate three students comfortably. It will also feature parking space on the ground floor, a mess with seating for a large number of students, a games room, a reading and newspaper room, and a spacious community hall.
The building will also be equipped with modern security infrastructure to ensure the safety of students.
Once completed, the new hostel is expected to significantly increase the university’s residential capacity and improve campus facilities for students coming from outside Vadodara. DeshGujarat
