Saputara to Get New ₹21.36-Crore Auditorium

Ahwa: Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, while inaugurating the Saputara Monsoon Festival on Saturday, said tourism-led development would play an important role in strengthening the state’s economy and creating employment opportunities.

Highlighting ongoing and completed tourism projects in South Gujarat, Sanghavi said the Gujarat Tourism Corporation has completed several projects at Saputara to improve facilities and attract more visitors.

The development of tourism facilities at Sunset Point has been completed at a cost of ₹9.85 crore and opened to tourists. The project includes a food court, administrative block, parking facilities, basic amenities, landscaping, a sundial and other site development works.

Similarly, the ₹4.40-crore redevelopment of Sunrise Point has been completed and opened to visitors. The project includes basic amenities, a food court, nursery, landscaping, electrification and site development.

Meanwhile, work is underway on a new auditorium at Saputara at a cost of ₹21.36 crore. The project will include a 500-seat auditorium, parking and event lawn, cafeteria, seminar and multipurpose halls, stage and green rooms, kitchen and utility block, along with interior, furniture, electrification and site development works.

The new facility is expected to support destination events, corporate meetings, conferences and other functions in Saputara, creating employment opportunities for locals while generating additional revenue for the government.

Beyond Saputara, the Tourism Department is also undertaking several projects across South Gujarat. These include the development of an eco-tourism site at Wilson Hill in Valsad district and tourist amenities at Devamogra Mataji Temple in Sagbara taluka of Narmada district, where ₹16 crore has been allocated for primary tourist facilities.

Under the Developed Gujarat-2047 vision, the state government has also launched an economic master plan for the Surat Economic Region. As part of the plan, tourism-oriented activities and development works at Ukai Dam will be taken up at a cost of ₹125 crore.

In addition, ₹200 crore has been earmarked for tourist amenities and other development works at Suvali, Ubharat and Tithal beaches.

The state government said these projects are aimed at developing South Gujarat’s natural and cultural attractions into major tourism destinations while supporting local employment, businesses and the broader regional economy. DeshGujarat
