Vadodara Adds 20 More AC Electric Buses; E-Bus Fleet to Reach 100 by October

Vadodara: Vadodara city has added 20 new PM e-buses to its public transport fleet, taking the total number of electric buses in the city to 50. The new buses were inaugurated by State Minister Manishaben Vakil in the presence of MP Dr. Hemang Joshi, MLAs and Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh.

The expansion is aimed at strengthening public transport in the city while reducing air and noise pollution. Officials said the additional e-buses will also help provide affordable and convenient travel options to citizens and reduce dependence on private vehicles.

The first phase of 30 e-buses, launched earlier by the Chief Minister, has received a good response from citizens. Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh said the buses generated revenue of around ₹29 lakh in a single month.

The civic body also plans to further expand the e-bus network and extend connectivity to rural areas in the coming years. As part of the transition towards cleaner public transport, old diesel and CNG buses operating in the city will gradually be phased out and replaced with electric buses.

Vadodara is expected to receive another 50 PM e-buses by October 2026, taking the total number of e-buses in the city to 100.

Along with the expansion of the fleet, new and modern bus stops will also be developed to improve passenger facilities.

Officials said the growing e-bus fleet is expected to encourage more people to use public transport, helping reduce private vehicle usage, ease traffic congestion and contribute to a cleaner and greener Vadodara. DeshGujarat
