Vadodara to get 30 more AC electric buses under PM e-Bus Sewa scheme

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will add 30 more electric buses to its public transport fleet under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, taking the number of e-buses operating in the city to 80.

The new buses are scheduled to be launched on October 7. The addition is expected to improve bus frequency on various routes and reduce waiting times for passengers.

Vadodara’s e-bus service began in late June with an initial fleet of 30 buses. Another 20 buses were subsequently added, taking the number of operational e-buses to 50. The service has received a positive response from commuters, according to the civic body.

The 30 newly arrived buses will soon be deployed on city routes. With the additional fleet, the VMC aims to strengthen public transport while providing commuters with a more comfortable and cleaner mode of travel.

Under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, 250 electric buses have been sanctioned for Vadodara, which are being procured and deployed in phases.

The 50 e-buses currently in operation have generated around ₹83 lakh in revenue for the civic body so far, indicating steady passenger use of the service. DeshGujarat
