Six Vadodara Devotees Killed as Wrong-Side Truck Crashes into Van in MP’s Dhar

Vadodara: Six devotees from Vadodara were killed after a trailer loaded with iron goods and allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road collided head-on with their van on the Ujjain-Badnawar road in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district on Sunday afternoon. One other passenger was critically injured.

The victims were returning to Vadodara after visiting the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. According to Additional SP Parul Belapurkar, the accident took place around 1 pm when the trailer, heading towards Ujjain on the wrong side of the road, crashed into the van travelling from Ujjain.

The impact left the van badly crushed. Rescue teams had to use a grinder to cut through the mangled vehicle and recover the bodies. Belapurkar said four of the six victims died at the spot, while two others were taken to a hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.

All six victims worked for Royal Enfield. According to their colleagues, the group had made a last-minute plan on Saturday night to visit the Mahakaleshwar Temple. They left for Ujjain that night, planning to complete the darshan and return to Vadodara on Sunday so they could report for work on Monday.

The trailer driver fled the scene after the accident but was later arrested. DeshGujarat
