Kim Police Inspector Suspended

Surat: Surat Rural Police have taken strict action against Police Inspector (PI) P.C. Sarvaiya of Kim Police Station after the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) seized foreign liquor worth ₹19 lakh from the police station’s jurisdiction. The Director General of Police (DGP) has ordered Sarvaiya’s immediate suspension for alleged negligence and failure to curb prohibition-related activities in the area.

On June 22, an SMC team conducted a raid in the Kim Police Station area and seized foreign liquor worth around ₹19 lakh. Including vehicles and other items, the total value of the seized property was estimated at ₹55 lakh.

Three accused were arrested during the SMC operation, while 13 other alleged bootleggers and persons linked to the illegal liquor network were declared wanted.

The seizure raised questions over how such a large-scale illegal liquor network could operate within the jurisdiction of the local police without being detected. The SMC raid also brought the functioning of Kim Police Station under scrutiny.

Following the incident, the DGP’s office initiated disciplinary action against PI P.C. Sarvaiya. The suspension order cites his failure to control prohibition-related activities within the police station’s jurisdiction and serious negligence in the discharge of his duties.

Further action against the accused and those found responsible is expected as the investigation progresses. DeshGujarat
