August 13, 2026
Dhoraji: Panic gripped Dhoraji town after a suspected rabid dog went on a biting spree in the Station Road area on Thursday morning, reportedly attacking 15 to 18 people, including pedestrians and elderly residents.
The injured were rushed to Dhoraji Government Hospital by locals and their family members. Doctors provided first aid and administered anti-rabies injections and other necessary medicines. Some of the injured, whose condition was considered serious, were later referred to a hospital in Junagadh for further treatment.
The incident has caused fear among residents, particularly amid the ongoing problem of stray cattle and animals in the city. Residents said the latest incident has added to their concerns about public safety and made it difficult for people to move around freely.
Hospital officials informed the Dhoraji Municipality administration about the incident. Local residents have expressed anger over what they described as a lack of action to control stray animals and have demanded that the civic body immediately capture the suspected rabid dog and take necessary measures to prevent further attacks.
