Kutch: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a decoy operation at the Surajbari Forest Checkpost in Bhachau and nabbed two people, including a forest guard, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 100.
According to the ACB, the accused have been identified as Jamansa Osaman Syed, a resident of Budhar Mora in Anjar, and Hareshbhai Hemrajbhai Chaudhary, a forest guard posted at the Bhachau Normal Range in Kutch.
The ACB said it had received a complaint alleging that officials and employees of the Surajbari Forest Checkpost and their associates were demanding illegal bribes ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 from drivers of vehicles carrying wood.
The alleged bribes were being sought for making entries related to the wood being transported in vehicle passes and recording the details in the register, the ACB said.
Based on the complaint, the Gandhidham ACB unit arranged a decoy operation with the cooperation of an alert citizen. During the operation, Jamansa Syed allegedly demanded Rs 100 from the decoy in exchange for making the required entry in the vehicle pass.
The ACB team caught Syed while accepting the bribe and recovered the entire Rs 100 from him.
The trap was conducted by H.V. Chaudhary, Police Inspector, Kutch (East) ACB, Gandhidham. DeshGujarat
