AMC to Add 700 Smart Parking Spaces in Two More Areas

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to expand its smart parking network with around 700 additional smart parking systems planned in the Makarba and Science City areas. The development comes a day after the launch of a smart parking facility on CG Road.

The proposal was discussed during the weekly meeting of the AMC Standing Committee on Wednesday. According to Deputy Municipal Commissioner Riddesh Rawal of the Estate Department, around 200 smart parking systems will be installed in the Makarba area and are expected to become operational soon. Another 500 systems are planned for the Science City area.

The AMC will also shift the existing smart parking system at Sobo Center to a more suitable location based on parking demand and space availability. The agency operating the system will undertake the shifting work at its own cost, and the AMC has not paid any amount to the agency for the relocation.

The new smart parking system will provide digital payment facilities, with users able to pay parking charges by scanning a QR code. The system is expected to bring greater transparency to the collection of parking fees.

Under the revenue-sharing arrangement, 80% of the revenue generated through the smart parking system will go to the AMC, while the remaining 20% will go to the concerned agency.

The expansion is aimed at improving parking management and providing a more convenient and digitally enabled parking facility in key areas of the city. DeshGujarat
