BJP appoints two co-in-charges in Gujarat, retains Tarun Chugh as in-charge

Gandhinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced new state in-charges and co-in-charges for 36 states and Union Territories.

For Gujarat, the party has retained Tarun Chugh as the state in-charge, while Delhi MLA Ajay Mahawar and Chhattisgarh MLA Gomti Sai have been appointed as co-in-charges for the state.

Mahawar, a BJP MLA from the Ghonda Assembly constituency in Delhi, was first elected in 2020 and retained the seat in the 2025 Assembly elections. He was born on January 19, 1971, in Sahibganj, Jharkhand.

Sai, an MLA from the Pathalgaon (ST) constituency in Chhattisgarh, previously served as a Member of Parliament from the Raigarh (ST) Lok Sabha constituency from 2019 to 2024. She was born on June 22, 1978, in Mundadih village in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh.

The appointments were announced by BJP national president Nitin Nabin in a list covering 36 states and Union Territories.

Among the Gujarat BJP leaders given new organisational responsibilities, Varshaben Doshi has been appointed as the party’s in-charge for Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, while Jagdish Patel has been appointed as a co-in-charge for Uttar Pradesh.
