87 Jawans of BSF and CRPF Hospitalized Ahead of Statue of Unity Parade; 37 Under Treatment, 1 Death

The minister said the condition of the 37 personnel currently hospitalised is stable and improving, with none in critical condition. The personnel had arrived in Gujarat from Odisha, Jharkhand, Delhi, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.
Pansheriya visited Gandhinagar Civil Hospital late on Thursday night to review their treatment and meet the medical team. He directed hospital authorities to ensure uninterrupted medical care, adequate hydration and nutritious food for the personnel. He also reviewed the availability of blood and platelets for patients requiring treatment for dengue.
The minister also expressed condolences over the death of a jawan undergoing treatment at the hospital. According to preliminary information, the jawan developed severe chest pain and was shifted to the ICU after undergoing cardiac tests, including an ECG. He died despite medical intervention.

Doctors suspect a possible cardiac arrest or heart attack. The minister said the jawan had reportedly continued strenuous exercise despite suffering from fever and physical discomfort. However, the exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem report.
Pansheriya said the Health Department had deployed specialist doctors at the hospital and was conducting fogging and insecticide spraying twice daily at the personnel’s accommodation sites. A dedicated team is also monitoring health and hygiene conditions at the sites around the clock.
The minister said the measures were being undertaken under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to protect the health of personnel deployed for the parade. DeshGujarat
