November 03, 2026
Ahmedabad: Dengue cases in Ahmedabad have crossed last year’s total, with the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) recording 1,857 cases between January and October 2026, against 1,591 cases in the entire 2025.
The city reported 513 dengue cases in October, taking the cumulative tally to 1,269 by October 31, including 756 cases in September. October also saw 63 malaria cases, 15 falciparum malaria cases and two chikungunya cases.
Dengue cases remain concentrated in Gota, Jagatpur, Chandkheda, Bodakdev, Thaltej, Vastral, Lambha and Nikol. An AMC official attributed the continued spread to stagnant water in coolers and other mosquito-breeding sites, adding that the civic body is sealing establishments and construction sites where breeding is detected.
From January to October, Ahmedabad recorded 516 malaria cases, 103 falciparum malaria cases and 19 chikungunya cases. The city also reported 4,295 gastroenteritis cases, 653 jaundice cases and 1,879 typhoid cases during the period.
In October, AMC collected 52,997 water samples for chlorine testing, of which 11 had zero chlorine content. Of 7,569 samples tested for bacteriological quality, 20 were found unfit for consumption. DeshGujarat
