YMCA – Karnavati Club surface Portion of SG Highway Reopens for Traffic

Ahmedabad: The around 1.5-km-long road connecting YMCA Club to Karnavati Club on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) Highway was reopened to traffic from Saturday morning.

The surface road had been closed and traffic diverted due to ongoing elevated corridor construction work. Vehicles were diverted via Zaveri Circle, with the route extending towards Karnavati Club and further to the ISKCON crossroads.

The road had remained closed for nearly two years. The decision to reopen it has been taken primarily in view of the upcoming Navratri festival, which begins tomorrow. Several major Garba venues are located in the area and attract thousands of participants over the nine nights of the festival.

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot was present at the site to supervise the reopening of the road. He said around 1,000 traffic police personnel and Traffic Regulation Brigade (TRB) personnel would be deployed on the SG Highway and Ring Road to ensure smooth traffic movement during Navratri.
