₹225-crore bridge to come up over Narmada River; to boost Vadodara-Bharuch connectivity

Vadodara: Work on the long-awaited Moti Koral-Bhalod bridge over the Narmada River began on Monday, marking a step towards improved connectivity between the Karjan region of Vadodara district and the Rundh area of Bharuch district. The ₹225-crore project is expected to reduce travel time, improve road connectivity and provide a safer alternative to boat crossings for residents of villages along the riverbanks.

As part of the initial phase, pile boring work for the preliminary pile load test commenced at Moti Koral village in the Karjan Assembly constituency. The test forms part of the preparatory process for the proposed bridge construction. Prayers and rituals were also performed on the occasion to seek the blessings of Narmada Mata.

The bridge addresses a long-standing demand of residents who rely on boats to cross the river for their daily commute, often facing difficulties and safety risks. Once completed, the bridge is expected to offer a safer and more convenient route for people travelling between the two districts.

The infrastructure project is also expected to benefit workers and employees commuting to nearby industrial units by improving connectivity and reducing travel time. It is likely to facilitate the movement of people and goods between the two regions while improving access to industrial areas and employment opportunities. DeshGujarat
