Ahmedabad – Jeddah Flights Cancelled as IndiGo, Akasa Air Suspend Saudi Services Till Oct 17

Ahmedabad: Indian carriers IndiGo, Air India and Akasa Air have suspended flights to and from several Saudi Arabian cities until October 17, 2026, citing escalating tensions in the Middle East and concerns over aviation safety following recent attacks in the region.

The suspensions have affected services connecting Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah. Flights operated by IndiGo and Akasa Air between Jeddah and Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport have also been cancelled.

In a travel advisory, IndiGo said flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah would remain suspended until October 17. The airline advised passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport, adding that updates were being shared through the contact details provided at the time of booking.

IndiGo said its support teams remained available to assist passengers and that it was coordinating with the relevant authorities to ensure safe operations.

Meanwhile, Air India announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah until October 17. The airline said it was closely monitoring developments in the region and assessing when operations could safely resume. Affected passengers are being offered full refunds for their cancelled bookings, it added.

Akasa Air has also extended the suspension of flights to and from Riyadh and Jeddah until October 17, citing the evolving security situation in the Middle East and the associated risks to flight operations.

The airline said affected passengers could opt for a full refund, which would be credited to their original payment method within seven days, or reschedule their travel at no additional cost. Passengers who booked through travel partners have been advised to contact them directly for assistance.

Separately, the Houthi movement has warned international airlines, foreign workers and commercial travellers against using Saudi Arabia’s aviation hubs, reportedly declaring the country’s airspace unsafe while exempting the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

The three carriers said they were continuing to monitor the evolving security situation and coordinate with the relevant authorities, reiterating that passenger and crew safety remained their top priority. DeshGujarat
