Sun PhuQuoc Airways to Launch Direct Ahmedabad – Phu Quoc Flights in December

Ahmedabad: Sun PhuQuoc Airways will launch its first direct flight service between India and Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam on December 3, with five weekly flights connecting Ahmedabad to the popular tourist destination.

The new route is expected to make travel more convenient for Indian tourists by eliminating the need for connecting flights. Initially, flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The airline plans to increase the frequency to daily services from early February 2027.

Flight 9G315 will depart from Phu Quoc International Airport at 7.35 pm and arrive in Ahmedabad at 11.30 pm local time. The return flight, 9G314, will depart Ahmedabad at 1 am and arrive in Phu Quoc at 7.15 am.

The service will operate using Airbus A321neo aircraft. According to the airline, passengers will be allowed 23 kg of checked baggage and 7 kg of cabin baggage. In-flight food and beverage options will also take into account the cultural and religious preferences of Indian travellers.

Direct connectivity expected to boost Indian tourism

Phu Quoc has recorded a significant increase in Indian tourist arrivals despite the absence of direct air connectivity. Sun PhuQuoc Airways said the island welcomed approximately 150,000 Indian visitors in 2025, marking a 328% increase compared with the previous year.

Vietnam received around 746,000 visitors from India during the same period, making India one of the country’s major international tourism markets.

The new Ahmedabad–Phu Quoc service is expected to strengthen travel links between India and Vietnam by providing direct access to the island. From Phu Quoc, passengers will also be able to connect to destinations across the airline’s network, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Van Don and Hai Phong.

Ahmedabad will be Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ first destination in India. The airline plans to expand its Indian network further, with additional routes to cities across the country targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

As part of its international expansion plans, the airline expects its fleet to grow to 33 aircraft by the end of 2026 and 58 by the end of 2027. DeshGujarat
