Imposter Posing as Ellisbridge MLA Amit Shah Calls FDCA Official for Licence Approval; Booked

Ahmedabad: An unidentified person posing as Ellisbridge BJP MLA Amit Shah allegedly contacted a Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) official, pressuring him to approve a licence for a healthcare company and accusing the official of delaying the clearance. Vasna police have registered an FIR following a complaint by the legislator.

Shah, 67, was at his Vasna office on October 29 when he received a call from FDCA Assistant Commissioner S N Gadhvi, posted in Gandhinagar. Gadhvi asked whether Shah had contacted him and Drugs Inspector Parth Patel to secure approval for a licence for Pulse Health Care. Shah denied making any such call, expressing surprise at the inquiry.

Gadhvi subsequently informed Shah that an individual calling from 9909283312 had contacted him earlier that day, claiming to be the Ellisbridge MLA and questioning the delay in approving the healthcare company’s licence. The caller allegedly accused the official of failing to clear the application and was even willing to speak to the Health Minister when Gadhvi suggested taking up the matter with the minister.

Shah later received the video of the exchange from the official, which showed the unidentified person impersonating him. He filed a complaint on November 4, alleging that the caller had misused his public office and attempted to tarnish his reputation.

Vasna police have registered an FIR against the unidentified accused under Sections 204 and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). DeshGujarat
