“Golden age returns to Somnath”

Somnath Mandir is stepping towards its glorious historical period. The golden era has returned to Somnath, said a statement of Shri Somnath Trust today after installment of golden doors of Garbha Griha of Somnath Mandir.
Through donation of gold from Lakhi family based in Mumbai in first phase, Garbhagriha thalu, ornaments, walls, Naag etc were converted to golden. In the second phase Shikhar-Dhvaj dand, Damru-Trishul etc were converted to golden. Now in third phase, rest of the portions of walls, pillars, face of Shiva, ornaments etc are being converted using 40. 270 kg gold.
Visandas Holaram Lakhi family had pledged for 100 kg gold donation. All gold work was completed by Mahalakshmi jewelers in Delhi.
On 8th May 2016, after the closure of temple late in the evening, Sankalp Vidhi puja was held in presence of Dilipbhai Lakhi, Bhikhubhai Dhamelia, donors, invited guests and family members. Golden layers were fixed by Mahalakshmi jewelers during the night. At 6.00 am today morning the golden converted doors were opened for public.
