Modi on his Success,Failure,Vision,Opposition and more
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 16 October, 2008
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi aims BJP to win all the 26 seats of Gujarat in next parliament election. Modi in his interview to Etv Gujarati’s Vikas Upadhyay said that to make Gujarat’s Advaniji Prime Minister of India he would do everything.
When asked about his government’s achievements during last 7 years rule, Modi in his answer narrated numerous schemes and projects he implemented but when asked about his most prominent failure during his 7 years rule, Modi said “I have not been able to turn media in favor. I have not achieved enough success to make media delivering right thing about Gujarat. This I consider as my failure in last seven years.”
When asked about Nano, Modi said “Don’t look at Nano project in connection with it’s past. Look at it in the light of it’s future. Two industrial projects in India remained controversial; One was Enron and another was Nano. While Enron project ended without a start, we could save Nano. Imagine if Nano project was grounded before a take off. I had no problem if Nano could continue in Bengal or even shifted to Andhra Pradesh. My worry was about keeping Nano project in India. Some foreign nations had urged Tata to bring Nano project to their land. There I intervened and invited patriotic Tata family to the land of Gujarat. Tatas have contributed tremendously to this nation’s development throughout the years and decades.”
In an answer to the question about decanting voices against Nano’s entry in the state Modi said “Do understand well. They are not against Nano but against Narendra Modi. And as they are in opposition, it is obvious if they oppose Narendra Modi. So without taking it seriously, we have to just forget, forgive and go ahead.”
On his ‘vision next’ about Gujarat, Modi said “bringing maximum farms under drip irrigation facility speedily is extremely necessary. If we can creat a situation where Industrial, Agricultural and Service sectors contribute 30% each to the state’s growth steadily, then the growth would be sustainable. Gujarat’s every Taluka should experience equal development. We have identified 30 backward Talukas where we want to penetrate our developmental activities. Our Rs 15,000 crore Vanbandhu scheme for tribal, Rs 13000 crore Sagarkhedu scheme for coastal area people and Rs 11,000 crore scheme for urban poor will eliminate poverty from the state ultimately.”
When asked about Gujarat of his dream Modi said “Soul of Gujarat lies in it’s religious-spiritual, highly characterized and value based society. This should continue. At the same time whatever is the best in the world should be there in Gujarat. This is Gujarat of my dream.”
