Himmatnagar: Close on heels of the controversial elimination of a female sloth bear which had killed 3 people near Kansa village situated in Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary of neighbouring Banaskantha district, another case of an attack by a wild bear in Idar area of Sabarkantha district has been reported.
62 year old Kamjibhai Lalabhai Katara was attacked by a wild bear near his native village of Jodkampa in the forest belt of Idar taluka of Sabarkantha district. He has been admitted to the civil hospital in Ahmedbad.
RFO Dhaneshi Kumpavat today said that the incident took place in the morning of March 15 (the day when the killer bear of Kansa was shot dead) but it was reported late. Two cages have been put in the area to nab the bear in the Mudhethi forest range the fruit plantation around which attract many bears from nearby polo forests.
To a query he said that the forest nearby is also infested by wild bears. He said that the Kansa village of neighbouring Banaskanatha district where the bear was killed was around 75 km from Jodkampa.
