At least 15 injured in clashes related to gram panchayat polls results in Gujarat

Ahmedabad:
At least 15 people sustained injuries during three separate incidents of clash between the winning and loosing side’s supporters after the declaration of results of February 4, gram panchayat elections of Gujarat today.
3 people sustained minor injuries in first such incident that took place in Nar village under Petlad taluka of Anand district when a group of people pelted stones on the victory procession of a winning candidate.
In another such incident in Khokhar village under Savali taluka of Vadodara district, 5 people were injured.
In yet another incident 7 people sustained injuries in clash and stone pelting between the winning and loosing sides in Goya Sundal village under Ghoghamba taluka of Panchmahal district.
Notably 80.68% polling was reported during the election that took place in 1133 gram panchayats across the state. The election as usual was held on non party basis ie the candidates were not from any party.
