Those leaving Congress not doing so due to temptations of ministerial berth, posts: Shailesh Parmar
March 08, 2019
Gandhinagar: Senior Congress MLA and deputy leader of the party in Gujarat Assembly Shaileshbhai Parmar today claimed that the Party MLAs who had left the party have done so due to some kind of ‘temptation’ including that of a minister’s or board chairman’s post.
Speaking to media persons here after today’s resignation of Manavadar Congress MLA Jawahar Chavda, Parmar said that it was not at all correct to say that there was any anger or dissidence in the party which was leading to all this.
‘In fact those who were leaving the party were doing so under some kind of temptation, be it the post of minister, or that of any board chairman, money or land etc. The ruling BJP was trying to break them through temptations,’ he claimed.
He however admitted that he was shocked at the resignation of Chavda who had never expressed any dissatisfaction in the party. ‘I don’t know why he has resigned all of a sudden. He was working positively as an observer for the coming event of the CWC. It seems that BJP which was weak was trying to somehow break the strong Congress leaders to take them to its fold,’ he said.
Parmar said that despite all this, Congress would ensure the defeat of BJP in the coming LS polls. ‘We would also ensure that Congress would get more seats than that of BJP in Gujarat even if the difference be just one,’ he said.
