Gandhinagar: Gujarat government today said that Girnar rope way will be functional by December this year and 80% work to create Jungle Safari near Statue of Unity site is over.

According to a statement issued by the State government, the State Wildlife Board meeting convened today took in-principle decision to allote Forest department land over Ambaji peak of Girnar mountain to tourism and pilgrim development board. The proposal will be sent to National Wildlife Board for approval.

With completion of Girnar rope way work by December this year, the ropeway will be functional for visitors, said the government adding that it would result into extra rush of visitors for whom drinking water, toilet, safety fencing and resting space will need to be developed. State government arm Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board has planned Rs. 7 crore project in this connection. Initially Rs. 4 crore will be spent, for which 0.2785 hectare land of forest department will be required. No tree will need to be cut to develop facilities over this land.

The meeting was informed that 80% work of proposed Jungle Safari is over near Statue of Unity.
