BJP Rajya Sabha candidates file nominations; Mokariya’s term to be nearly 6 years, Prajapati 3 years

Gandhinagar: Two candidates for equal number of vacant Rajya Sabha seats – Rambhai Mokariya and Dineshbhai Anavadiya (Prajapati) today filed nomination forms for their candidature in Rajya Sabha by-polls. Two seats are vacant due to demise of Ahmed Patel and Abhay Bharadwaj. Rambhai Mokariya has filed nomination for the seat vacant due to demise of Abhay Bharadwaj. Therefore his term as Rajya Sabha MP will be nearly six years long. Dinesh Prajapati has filed nomination for the seat vacant due to demise of Ahmed Patel. Therefore he will be MP for left over term of Ahmed Patel which is nearly three years. BJP candidates filed forms in presence of Dy CM Nitin Patel and State BJP chief CR Patil among others. As BJP has sufficient strength to elect both candidates to Rajya Sabha comfortably, opposition Congress party may not field its candidates and therefore both BJP candidates are likely to be declared victorious unopposed.
