Prabhas Patan: A group of Hindus today shouted slogans, asked replies and made Aam Admi Party (AAP) Gujarat chief Gopal Italia “run away from the place” here outside the Somnath mandir. Milan Joshi, the president of Gir Somnath district Brahmin community said a group of over two dozen sanatani Hindus today protested Italia over his anti – Sanatan dharm mentality following which Italia “ran away” in a car. Joshi said, Italia couldn’t reply the questions asked by them and ran away with his tail between legs (Gujarati phrase – Ubhi punchhadiye bhagyo). Joshi said those believing in Sanatan dharm must oppose him for his remarks made some year ago against Hindu Gods and Goddesses, Brahmins and out religious symbols, video of which are even today viral on social media platforms. AAP Gujarat chief Gopal Italia prior to his political debut had come to limelight for hurling shoe at minister of state for Home in a live press conference. Italia meanwhile visited Prabhas Patan police station to file a complaint, however a senior police official said both parties said the matter was over and there was no point of filing a complaint. Italia while speaking to media persons apologized if his remarks had hurt sentiments of people.

It’s worth noting that a day ago, number of office bearers of Hindu organizations had in a letter to the district administration sought action against Italia.

A letter written by Sanjay Joshi (Saurashtra Kutch Brahm Samaj – General Secretary) said: The Hindu community is very much shocked after watching a viral video in which Gopal Italia hurts the feelings of Hindus and speaks in very low language against Hindu God and Goddesses and Hindu community’s very ancient Sanatan Dharma’s puja and prayers in uncontrolled verbal manner. He has to face legal action. If this Gopal Italia doesn’t believe in sanatan dharm and its principles and come to Somnath Mahadev, the center of Hindu belief in Hippocratic manner then entire Hindu community protest Gopal Italia’s entry in Kodinar taluka and if he enters, he will face firy protest. Anti Sanatan – dharm Gopal Italia’s meetings must be cancelled and he must face strict actions.
