Surat: The visitors will soon be able to watch a pair of white tigers and a Lion cub at Sarthana Nature Park and Zoo in Surat.

According to a note by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), Sarthana Nature Park and Zoo had received approval from Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi for bringing white tigers in the zoo in March 2021 through correspondence with Rajkot Zoo. Thereafter the process of exchanging the animals between Surat and Rajkot zoo was initiated. On 28th July 2021, the Surat Zoo team shifted a pair of smooth-coated otters and a pair of panthers to Rajkot Zoo. In exchange, they brought a pair of white tiger, fox and silver pheasant to Surat zoo from Rajkot zoo on 31st July 2021.

In another update A lion cub was born in April 2021 at Surat zoo after successful breeding of a pair of lions brought from Raipur Zoo. A new born cub was nurtured by bottle feeding (Hand rearing) and its first vaccination was done on 14th July. It will be soon put into public display for the visitors as it is healthy at present.
