Gandhinagar: As expected, Gujarat has witnessed a major jump in daily count of fresh covid cases in the State. As many as 2,265 fresh cases have been recorded in a day in the State in latest against recovery of 240 covid patients and deaths of two. The State has now as many as 7,881 active covid cases, of whom only 18 are on ventilator support.

Among cities, Ahmedabad recorded as high as 1,290 fresh cases in a day, Surat 415, Vadodara 86,, Rajkot 36, Gandhinagar 23, Bhavnagar 18, Jamnagar 16, Junagadh 8.

Among districts, Anand recorded 70 fresh cases, Kutch 37, Kheda 34, Bharuch 26, Ahmedabad and Morbi 24, Rajkot 21, Navsari 18, Mahesana and Panchmahal 14 each, Gandhinagar 12, Surat and Valsad 9 each, Vadodara 8, Jamnagar 7, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha 6 each, Arvalli 5, Bhavnagar, Dwarka and Mahisagar 4 each, Amreli, Gir Somnath and Tapi 3 each, Dahod 2 and Dang and Surendranagar 1 each.

Over 8.73 lakh doses of covid vaccines were administered in a day, taking the statewide total above 9.13 crore across the State so far.

Only two fresh Omicron variant cases were recorded in a day, taking the Statewide total so far at 154 against 96 recoveries.
