Gala Print defrauded of Rs 27 cr with promise of tender for textbook printing of Tamil Nadu Education Board

Ahmedabad: A fraud to the tune of a sum as large as Rs 27 crore has been reported for the first time in the history of the Cyber Crime Cell of the Ahmedabad police. The fraud was perpetrated by fraudsters from outside the state by promising city-based Gala Print City tender for textbook printing work from the Education Board of the Tamil Nadu Government.

Certain people had approached Gala Print City’s MD, Vishal Gala, and promised him tender for supplying stationery to the Tamil Nadu Government. They had enticed him after showing him the prospects of a huge profit in the deal and made him deposit Rs 26.78 crore in a bank account of Rural Bank to participate in the tendering process.

The fraudster stopped taking Gala’s calls after the amount was deposited in the bank account. He could not be traced at the address he had provided. When Vishal Gala himself went to Tamil Nadu, he was told that no such person had been given any responsibility for government tendering activities.

An offence has been booked about this matter with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Ahmedabad police. Gala Print City is an associate of Navneet Prakashan.
