Woman dies after being dragged into Vishwamitri river by crocodile in Vadodara

Vadodara: A woman lost her life after being attacked and dragged into the Vishwamitri River by a crocodile near Kalaghoda Bridge today. Local residents, upon seeing the woman being dragged, informed the fire department, which promptly arrived at the scene. However, the team faced significant challenges while retrieving the woman’s body from the water, as four to five crocodiles were nearby.
According to the fire department, a call was received at the Command & Control Centre on October 14 at 8:00 AM regarding the incident. The Dandiya Bazar fire team rushed to the spot after learning that a woman was being dragged by a crocodile at the Vishwamitri Kalaghoda Bridge, located about 100 meters from the bridge. After half an hour of struggle, the fire department managed to rescue the woman from the crocodile’s grasp and informed the police. The body was subsequently transferred to Sayaji Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Fireman Manoj Sitapara, who participated in the rescue operations, stated that they reached the scene immediately after receiving the call. As onlookers gathered, the crocodile continued to pull the woman’s body into the water, with other crocodiles also present. After a half-hour effort, the team was able to free the woman from the crocodile, and her body was retrieved. The woman was estimated to be between 45 and 50 years old, and the team promptly informed the police. DeshGujarat
