Six Hindu students attacked during college Garba function in Vadodora

Vadodara: Four accused from Tundav attacked six Hindu students with iron belts and stones after they stopped the songs related to Islam being played in a Garba function of Navratri in B.K. Patel Arts & Commerce College of Savli in Vadodara.

The Garba programme was held on Saturday at BK Patel Arts & Commerce College on Saturday. Around 100 to 150 students were playing Garba in the college compound. The college had arranged snacks during the break at Garba. When the students were having snacks, the accused students from Tundav studying in the college Rathod Amin Gulab Nabi, Nizami Moin Nurmahammad, Ganchi Amanbhai Firozbhai and Chauhan Mahamadnuman Mahamadhanif asked the DJ to play songs related to their religion. When the DJ played the songs related to Islam, the other college students gathered and said that it is wrong to expect to play such songs in the college compound as Navratri is a Hindu festival.

The four accused got angry after the same and spoke abusive words and gave threats. The principal and staff interfered and stopped the fight. The four accused stopped a student Vishvajitsinh Rajendrasinh Mahida (studying in BA final year) when he was going home with friends after the Garba function and attacked him with an iron belt and stones. They also attacked the other five students with him named Yuvraj Dineshbhai Vaghela, Harpalsinh Rajendrasinh Jadav, Yogesh Somsinh Mahida, Rutviksinh Surendrasinh Mahida, Ghanshyamsinh Surendrasinh Mahida. It caused injuries to the six students. The four accused escaped after people gathered there after hearing shouts. Savli police filed a crime against the four accused.
