April 19, 2023
Bhavnagar: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday arrested the youngest accused Milan Baraiya (19) in the Bhavnagar dummy candidates scam after questioning him for several hours.
The 19 years old accused Milan, acted as a dummy candidate for at least seven different exams for as many candidates between 2020 and 2022.
The Bhavnagar Local Crime Branch (LCB) busted the scam and booked 36 people, including four masterminds. To date, six people, including the four masterminds, have been arrested.
Baraiya’s involvement in the racket began when he was just 16 years old and took his first exam as a dummy candidate in 2020. He was paid Rs 25,000 per exam by Sharad Panot and other masterminds. The delay in Milan Baraiya’s arrest was caused by the fact that he committed some of these crimes as a juvenile, according to sources.
The police are still investigating the case and have not disclosed any further information about the arrests or the ongoing investigation. DeshGujarat
