SVPI Airport to have FASTag-based parking system
May 17, 2023
Ahmedabad: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI) in the city will implement FASTag-based parking charges starting next week. This will reduce waiting times at parking entry and exit points, providing a hassle-free experience for travellers.
The system is similar to toll gates on highways that will scan FASTag upon entry and deduct the parking fee from it upon exit. It will improve turnaround times, enable cashless transactions, and reduce traffic congestion. The airport aims to enhance infrastructure to meet increasing passenger traffic. Future plans include a prepayment option via QR code.
A similar system was already introduced at Mumbai Airport last year and Mangalore Airport in April, and now SVPI airport is integrating FASTag into its parking automation project.
