Inquiry ordered against Ahmedabad Rural SP and others for alleged custodial torture

Sanand: The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sanand has ordered an inquiry against Ahmedabad Rural SP Amit Vasava, police inspector RD Gojia, and others for allegedly assaulting a man during police custody.

Karan Rabari, accused of embezzlement, was taken into police custody on April 25, with authorization from the high court. After completing the remand period, Rabari approached the court. In his complaint, Rabari alleged physical abuse both at the police station and the SP office, as well as being forced to sign documents by the complainant.

The court has directed the Inspector General of the Range to conduct an inquiry to verify the allegations. This includes reviewing CCTV footage from the police station and the superintendent of police’s office. The allegations of demanding Rs 11 lakh and coerced document signing also need to be verified.
