Surat: Congress has been there again to take the leadership against development project. A group of locals in Vansda taluka led by Congress MLA staged protest against the public hearing for land acquisition for National Highway no 56.

The locals of Vansda, under the leadership of Vansda Chikhli congress MLA Anant Patel gathered at Vansda prant office for the agitation. They shouted slogans meaning ‘We will give life, but not lands.’ in the agitation. The leaders who joined the agitation attacked the government policy by claiming it to be anti tribal.

Vansda prant officer DI Patel informed that Vapi Shamlaji National Highway no 56 passes from 18 villages of Vansda taluka. The affected farmers whose lands are to be aquired have demanded redemptions for their lands similar to the redemption given for land acquisition for the bullet train and express highway, he added.
