Gandhinagar: Who is Babubhai Desai, who has been nominated as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha election from Gujarat?

Babubhai Jesangbhai Desai hails from a cattle-rearer (Rabari) community which comes under the Other Backward Class(OBC). He is a former one-term MLA of Kankrej (2007 to 2012). Born on 1st June 1957 at Umbri in Kankrej taluka of Banaskantha, he lives at his residence in Bhagwatnagar society near Gulab Tower on Sola road in Ahmedabad. His native place is Maktupur in Unjha taluka of Mahesana district in North Gujarat.

Babubhai is Old SSC, stenography pass by education. He is into agriculture, cattle rearing, and also into land development and building construction. His office is located in Surmount building on SG Highway near ISKCON mandir.

Babubhai Desai’s profile circulated by BJP informs that he served the people during the Banaskantha flood, the Coronavirus pandemic, the Lumpy virus spread, and other occasions. Desai says he holds camps to cover potential beneficiaries in the Central government’s welfare schemes.

Desai had donated Rs. 5 lacks in Mukhyamantri Kanya Kelavni Nidhi, Rs. 11 lakh in Mukhyamantro Flood Relief Fund, Rs. 11 lakh for construction of Kamalam office of BJP, Rs. 11 lakh for BJP office in Banaskantha district, Rs. 5-5 lakh (total Rs. 10 lakh) in PM’s Covid relief fund and CM’s relief fund, Rs. 10 lakh for medicine and kit distribution in Kankrej assembly segment. He also was the donor for meals during the 64th convention of RSS-affiliated students’ wing ABVP.

Desai has donated for and hosted number of religious events such as tulsi vivah, Rameshbhai Oza’s Bhagwad Katha, Bhojan prasad, Maha Vishnu Yagna, donation for Ramroti annakshetra, golden and silver Sinhasan of Dwarkadhish Mandir murti, Pilot baba yagna for 9-day, 108 dhwaja offering to Dwarkadhish Mandir etc. Desai has also donated for the construction of Gau Shala and Mandirs. Desai is well-known for his devotion and donation for Dwarkadhish Mandir especially. DeshGujarat
