Ahmedabad: In an operation by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Zone-1 in the city, two individuals were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly impersonating police officers and extorting money from couples staying in guest houses and hotels.
This action came after a complaint from a man who stated that he and his girlfriend were coerced into giving Rs 9,500 by three men in a Sabarmati guest house. Acting on the tip-off, a team from the LCB, led by DCP Zone-1 Lavina Sinha, identified two of the three individuals involved as Akram Ansari, aged 50, from Vatva, and Mohsin Pathan, aged 39, a resident of Gomtipur. Both of them were nabbed from their homes.
The arrested individuals had engaged in a similar incident earlier, extorting money from another couple. They targeted vulnerable couples in hotels and guest houses. The third accomplice, Amit Bhura, is currently on the run. DeshGujarat
