KRIBHCO to set up an Ethanol plant at Hazira in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: India’s largest fertilizer cooperative Krishak Bharti Cooperative Ltd (KRIBHCO) will set up ethanol plants in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with an investment of Rs. 1100 crore.

According to company, the plant in Gujarat will be set up at Hazira. A special purpose vehicle (SPV) company KRIBHCO Green Energy Pvt Ltd has been set up to execute this plan. All three projects have received environment clearance, and interest subvention scheme benefit in-principle.

According to Rajan Chaudhary, Managing Director of KRIBHCO, the plants are expected to be operational by the end of year 2024. The plant will have production capacity of 250 kilo liter per day. Maize and rice bhusa (broken rice) will be used as row material in these plant.

12 percent ethanol is mixed in petrol at present in the country which shall go up to 20 percent by 2025 as per the target set by the government. Meaning the country has reduced its dependency on imported oil by 12 percent through domestically produced ethanol. The country by 2025 will reduce its oil import by 20 percent by blending more ethanol. DeshGujarat
