Adulterated ghee row: Ambaji Police nabs owner of Neelkanth Traders

Ahmedabad: Ambaji Police today nabbed the owner of Neelkanth Traders, an Ahmedabad-based company that had supplied adulterated ghee to the Mohini caterers responsible for preparing Prasad at the Ambaji Mandir.

The police have nabbed individual named Jatin Shah, the owner of Neelkanth Traders located in Madhupura area of Ahmedabad. This company had delivered approximately 300 cans of ghee to Mohini caterers, who were tasked with producing Prasad at the Ambaji Mandir.

The accused had been on the run for the past two days after the police conducted a raid at the premises of Neelkanth Traders and seized three cans of 15 kg ghee, each of which was of substandard quality. The accused was taken to Civil Hospital in Ambaji for a medical check-up. The police are conducting an interrogation of the accused, and several details are likely to emerge from it.

On August 28th, authorities had confiscated 2820 kg of adulterated ghee valued at Rs. 8 lakh, which was being used in Mohanthal Prasad. Subsequently, the Ambaji police carried out an inspection at Neelkanth Traders in Ahmedabad and confiscated three cans of 15 kg ghee. This company had supplied the adulterated ghee to Mohini Caterers. The ghee had been falsely labeled as a product of Amul Ghee from Sabar Dairy, which has already filed an FIR in this matter.
