Gujarat CM, BJP chief, GS(Org) in Delhi for final selection of Lok Sabha candidates

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil and Gujarat BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ratnakar Pandey left for the national capital New Delhi today morning with a list of panels of names of scrutinized candidates for the upcoming 26-seat Lok Sabha general elections in Gujarat.

Central BJP’s related committee meeting is underway this afternoon at the party’s national headquarters in which discussions on the selection of candidates are going on today for the States where BJP is going to contest single-handed without NDA allies. Such states include Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh etc.

The names of scrutinized candidates for 26 Lok Sabha seats are likely to be discussed in the late afternoon in the presence of PM Narendrabhai Modi and HM Amitbhai Shah.

The ruling BJP is reportedly mulling over announcing the names of some candidates, well ahead of the announcement of the schedule of Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India. Some other political parties have already started announcing their candidates for several seats.  The possibility of announcing of names of some candidates in Gujarat in early March can’t be ruled out.

Lok Sabha general elections are likely to take place nationwide in the upcoming months of April and May in a phased manner. Announcement of the dates is possible in the second week of March. DeshGujarat
